Australia's largest branded mat — laid overnight, in the Melbourne rain

A leading creative agency came to us with the biggest challenge we've ever taken on: produce the largest branded mat ever made in Australia. The brief was to cover an entire street — a single continuous mat measuring 70 metres by 6 metres, more than 400 square metres of custom-printed carpet.

The challenge

The size alone would have stopped most suppliers. But there was a catch that made it even harder: the mat had to be installed in the middle of a cold, rainy Melbourne evening, in just a few hours, and be flawless and ready for the launch the next morning. The timeframe was tight and the budget was fixed. Every other mat company they approached said it couldn't be done — not in the time available, and not at the price.

What we did

Mats R us said yes. We produced the entire 70m x 6m mat, then rolled up our sleeves and installed it overnight in the rain, working to the clock so that everything was down, secured and perfect before sunrise. No forklifts, no fuss — just the right materials, careful planning, and a team determined to deliver where others wouldn't.

The result

The results speak for themselves. We produced the largest branded mat ever made in Australia, and delivered it on time and on budget. The client was over the moon, and the launch was a great success — attended by the Minister for Small Business and other dignitaries. And after a cold, wet night of work, the sun came out that morning, right on cue.

When the job is too big, too tight, or too tough for anyone else, that's exactly when Mats R us delivers. Talk to us about your project.

Bluey's World📍 North Brisbane

Bluey's world

Bringing Bluey’s World to life — one square metre at a time

When the team behind Bluey’s World set out to build their landmark new venue in North Brisbane, they needed a branded flooring and carpet supplier who could do something few others could: recreate the look of the Bluey cartoon in real, walk-on-it detail. They put the word out, weighed up their options, and chose Mats R us as the best fit for the project.

The brief

Bluey’s World isn’t an ordinary venue. It’s become one of Australia’s major visitor drawcards, pulling families in from across the country and around the world. The flooring couldn’t just look the part on opening day — it had to survive years of little feet running, jumping and playing on it, day in and day out. The team arrived with their designs and a detailed project brief, and asked us to turn the cartoon’s flooring and rugs into the real thing.

What we did

We worked hand-in-hand with the Bluey’s World team to produce exact replicas of the flooring and rugs straight out of the cartoon — matched down to the detail so that stepping into the venue feels like stepping into an episode. All up, we manufactured hundreds of square metres of printed carpet and carpet tiles, produced and delivered in time for the Grand Opening. Project manager Shane Rushbrook was thrilled with the result and how closely it resembled the actual cartoon.

The result

Two years on, Bluey’s World has been such a success that the original two-year project has been extended for a further three years, cementing its place as a destination visitors travel from all over the world to experience. And after all that foot traffic — thousands of parents and children walking and running across it every week — our carpet is still looking great. The team plans to refresh a few high-wear sections later this year, which after this much use is a genuine testament to the print quality and durability of Mats R us branded flooring.

Pamela Allen Exhibition at the State Library of NSW

The head designer for the Pamela Allen Exhibition at the State Library of NSW, Vania, approached us with a very specific brief — to create a series of custom shape-cut and cartoon-style mats that were anything but ordinary.

We were excited to take on the challenge. After testing a number of techniques, we developed a way to cut the mats to the required shapes while still maintaining our important anti-trip edging around the entire perimeter.

The result exceeded expectations. The client was thrilled, and the feature grass mat quickly became a favourite with exhibition visitors, appearing prominently across social media photos from the event.

It’s another great example of what sets Mats R us apart — when a project calls for something unique, technical or completely custom, we find a way to make it happen.

Custom branded mats are what we do best.
